How To Overcome Fear of Visibility

I know you’ve been there, I’m sure I did wondering if people will think you’re just in it for the money or fearing the potential unfriending on social media

But guess what? You’re not alone.

So, let’s dive right into the nitty-gritty of turning your business into a brand and overcoming your fear of visibility.

The fear of visibility is entirely normal, my friends. It’s that nagging voice asking, “What if they hate it? What if they unfriend me?” Trust me, you’re not the only one grappling with these thoughts. It’s like our brains are wired to fear judgment and rejection.

Ever wonder why the fear of not fitting in is so ingrained in us? It goes back to our tribal instincts when isolation meant low survival rates. Connection and fitting in were crucial. Fast forward to today, and the fear of visibility is essentially the modern version of that ancient survival instinct.

Now, turning your business into a brand involves facing this fear head-on. Fear and courage are two sides of the same coin. You can’t have one without the other. Embrace the fear, understand where it resides in your body (for me, it’s the stomach), and use it as fuel to move forward.

Successful entrepreneurs don’t operate under the weight of what others think. They manage their thoughts, audit them, and ask, “Is this useful? Does it build me up?” The biggest feeder to self-doubt? Worrying about what others think. Break free from that cycle.

Back in 2020, I faced the fear of visibility head-on. My challenge to you: post something every day. Start small, but start. Haters will come, friends might not be as supportive as you hope, and yes, there will be judgment. But guess what? That’s normal.

Flash forward three years, and here I am, putting out content across various platforms daily. The person terrified to go live on video is now a content-producing machine. And you can be too.

You have a voice, a story, and expertise the world needs to hear. The fear of visibility is a hurdle worth overcoming. Remember, the world needs to hear more from you. So, show up, be seen, and embrace the appreciation for exactly who you are.

I’ll leave you with a powerful quote that has guided me through tough times:

“She didn’t need to be saved. She needed to be found and appreciated for exactly who she was.”

Apply this to your journey of overcoming the fear of visibility, and you’re bound to shine.
